I have a proposal up on the desktop devel list. The release team would like to start a new “Sneak Peek” release module which would include technologies which may make future GNOME releases but are not ready to follow the strict GNOME release rules. We would like everyone’s opinion and suggestions on how we should handle this. Please comment on the thread at ddl. This should go a long way to dispelling the myth that nothing is happening in GNOME. Many exciting projects are going on, they are just taking longer term views.

I would recommend calling them “experimental” or “extra” set rather than sneak peek. Sneak peek sets the expectation that these modules WILL be in the subsequent releases while the names I propose do not have these implications. The advantage is that you can throw away components which don’t have any future.

But “sneak peek” sounds much more exciting than “experimental” or “extra”

The a few screenshots of the “slab menu” for instance created excitement. Then it didn’t make it in the release, disappointing a lot of people.. It’s nice that it’s available from the apt repositories anyways :p
So yeah, please do that, but try to make sure that it all also leads into some results (when possible).
