Acting Out

I started a ten week acting class yesterday. It is a nice way to break up the work week. Our class is composed of a motley crew of characters who were all pretty fun to work with. After class a couple of us went out for some food and beers. I was dismayed to find out that Charlies no longer has their large sized Hoegaarden glasses. Apparently they all got stolen, one by one. It is just not Charlies without a huge Hoegaarden in hand. I bought a couple of pints anyway.

I had also ordered a portobello mushroom burger but for some reason was given a chicken sandwich which I didn’t notice until I took a bite. It was suggested I act as if I were an irate vegetarian but I thought that would be a bit unfair to the waitress. It however got us talking about taking on a character every week with the people we go out to dinner with and trying to stay in that character the whole night. I think most people were in which should make this class all the more interesting.

  3. “Show me pathos! Great. Show me… anger! Fantastic! Now show me… *lust*! Terrific, folks, just terrific! Now let’s throw ourselves around like ragdolls. Loose! Loose!”

Man, I miss my college drama workshops. Nothing quite like drinking all night, going to an 8am drama workshop still drunk, and then being asked to throw oneself around like a ragdoll. Good times, noodle salad.
